Taxpayers can securely access and view their IRS tax information anytime through their individual online IRS account. Important information found in your account can help you and your tax preparer all year round.

the Benefits

  • View a breakdown by tax year and the amount you currently owe.

  • View estimated tax payments - any estimated tax payments made during the year or refunds applied as a credit can be found on the account balance tab. A record of each payment or pending payments (up to 5 years) appears under payment activity

  • View your economic impact payments and/or advanced child tax credit - you can check your payment amounts to help your preparer accurately calculate any recovery rebate credit, if eligible. Individuals who are married filing joint will each need to sign into their own account to view their portion of the payments.

  • Additional:

    • View and create payment plan options

    • Make a payment from your bank account or by debit/credit card

    • Access tax records such as: IRS Transcripts and digital copies of your IRS notices

    • Digitally sign certain authorization forms, such as a power of attorney, initiated by your tax professional.

How To

  1. Click here or visit irs.gov and click Sign in to Your Account from the home page.

  2. Click Create an account.

  3. Follow the prompts to verify your identity. (You must be able to authenticate your identity to continue).

  4. Create a profile.

Once the initial authentication process is complete, returning users can use the same username and password to access other IRS online services such as Get Transcript and Get An Identity Protection PIN, if applicable.
