Tax Intern - Level 2


Overview:

Tax Interns Level 2 at Johnson Messal Bristow PLLC provide support to the tax department while learning and experiencing what it’s like to work in a public accounting firm. The ideal candidate will be a recent college graduate looking to develop entry level skills in a CPA firm. Tax Intern Level 2’s are expected to work 40 hours per week with the potential for overtime.  After training and onboarding, you will be responsible for preparation of simple Individual (1040) tax returns independently and assisting Senior Staff with a variety of projects as assigned. Successful Tax Intern Level 2’s are a principal source of incoming Tax Staff to be hired for full-time positions at the firm.

This internship runs from January - April of 2025.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Has general knowledge of basic principles of individual and business taxation.

  • Understands financial statements, journal entries, and recurring book/tax differences.

  • Uses basic research tools to answer questions during return preparation.

  • Learns new software quickly and becomes proficient in firm software and programs.

  • Prepare work papers and schedules that show clear and logical thought processes

Education & Experience:

  • Recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and working towards or interested in pursuing a Master’s Degree in Taxation.
